GLASGOW HAWKS 24,
HAWICK 10
After last weeks triumphant win in the Border derby
against Melrose, Hawick travelled to Old Anniesland with
confidence for this match against a Glasgow Hawks team
who have been struggling of late with only two wins out
of eight. Hawick, who had professional prop Geoff cross
in their lineup, were always going to be in for a tough
afternoon with Glasgow Hawks fielding three
professionals.
Hawks got off to a good start and were twelve points up
through tries from pros Sinclair and Shaw but Hawick
came back strongly with a penalty from Craig Neish and a
converted try from Andy Wilson. But from then on it was
all a bit of a slog for Hawick who looked rather jaded
on the day, with the lineout being particularly in need
of some attention. Before the interval, Hawks other pro
player Kerr touched down for a converted try to go 17-10
into the lead.
After the break, as in recent weeks a comeback was again
required, but Hawick were unable to improve their first
half scoreline. Hawks scored seven minutes from time to
finish the scoring and record a deserved win by 24
points to 10.
