DRUMLANRIG DO THE DOUBLE - KEOWN TROPHY WINNERS 2009 AND
CHRYSTIE'S QUAICH WINNERS 2009.
Saturday past saw the finals of the Keown Trophy and the
Chrysties Quaich for 2009, with bad weather during the week
and Mansfield flooded a little,, the finals were moved from
Mansfield back to the olden days when we held them all at
Wilton Lodge Park, Hawick Academy took the decission to go
ahead with all the games even though we were in for bad
weather and that decission payed off, what a fine morning
for rugby and great rugby we were treated to, as George
Keown and Marrion Chrystie said its just brilliant to see
all these players with smiles on their faces having great
fun win or loose and the parent and coaches support is
excellent to see it was such a great atmosphère all morning.
With a
change in the formatte this season there were loads to play
for first up to collect the Chrysties Tankard from the P4-P5
Games were Wilton who came out on top with a closely
contested game against Burnfoot, in the Chrysties Shield
game the next tear Trinity were worthy winners over
Stirches, and in the Final of the Chrysties Quaich were
Denholm v Drumlanrig and what a game that turned out to be
both teams giving it all and having great fun in the mud,
Drumlanrig showed some great skills and plenty of team work
to come out on top of this seasons winners.
Keown
Trophy Cup Games for P6-P7 Players were also closely
contested, Stirches collected the Keown Tankard and in the
Keown Shield final Trinity eventualy over came the hard
working team from Burnfoot, and in the Keown Trophy Final
was Drumlanrig v Wilton which Wilton had already beaten
Drumlanrig in earlier rounds but they got their revenge
Saturday past by lifting the Keown Trophy 2009!!!
congradulations to all who played and to Drumlanrig Primary
School for the double.
